looking to filter digital noise from IR digital photos

I shoot IR via the "nightshot mode" from an older model of Sony Cybershot
(DSCV-1) For dytime, I use a 9 stop ND filter. Some of these images are
posted here on this tribe.

I understand that there are digital noise filters that you can run the
images thru that will sharpen the image consederably but I use a mac and these
filters are software that runs on pc's only. Any experience/advice for a mac user?

Photos from... Africa?

It’s time for another collection of infrared photos, this time from my weekend getaway to Afric—well, we didn’t go all the way to Africa for the weekend, but we went to the closest thing – The Wild Animal Park in San Diego.

Filled with hundreds of species of animals living in natural environments free from cages and often in wide open plains where they wander, the Wild Animal Park is actually an entertainment theme park second and a conservation and breeding facility first. It is also being threatened by the current wildfires and is now closed, though the animals are in safe keeping. Here are some photos that rival the African plains where you’ll see gazelles, rhinos and giraffes among the other animals and plant life.

Help! What do I need to do?

I have done the remote control test on my camera and it picks up infrared. now what do i do? do i just buy a filter and shoot? i don't want to waste money on one now if there is something else i need to do. (my camera is a Megxon Digital SLR)

Has anyone tried the Rollei IR films?

I have been using the Maco IR 820c film, now I see that it has the Rollei name on it, with a few other changes. The one question I can't seem to get an answer to: does the new Rollei film have the anti-halation backing? Also has anyone tried T-Max RS with this film?

Photographing Tribe folks may be interested in Zannel Fest, an on-line contest for short form video, still images and art. We're looking for the kind of stuff we'll think is so amazing we'll want to pass on to our friends, family, office-mates, and nearby impressionable infants. And then we'll award selected entries with things like cash, shirts, syrup, and other crazy prize stuffs.

And luckily this festival is free to submit to. No more pesky registration fees when all you have to do is have access to the Internet and be able to press an upload button. But perhaps the best part of registering for Zannel Fest, in addition to prizes, is that you’ll also be (if you want!) one of the very first users of an almost launched content sharing network that encompasses mobile phones, the Internet, and possibly a device that hasn't been invented yet, like the PK-109 Video Helmet.

White Balance

Setting the white balance use the brightest part of your photo to let it know that visible light green is = infrared white. Use a patch of green grass in full sunlight. Set up as if you were taking a photo of the grass and custom set your white balance on it. I found it works pretty good for me

Dr. Xiang Gui

Hello all I was looking through your gallery and I was particularly stunned by the shot "Dr. Xiang Gui" does anyone know how this shot was setup and taken and if any type of filters where used.

I am new to infrared photography but I've been seriously shooting for 17 years now. I never really thought much of infrared film until I looked through the gallery here, now I am really intruiged.

Ancient infrared?

I have some really old infrared (about five years at least) that wasn't refrigerated for the past two of those years. Can I still use it? Should I even bother? I'd like to see if it does anything funky, but I won't waste my time if nothing will happen.

Ilford SFX

A salesperson at one of the local camera stores said he thought Ilford SFX had been discontinued. I still see it as a current product on the Ilford company site and not in their Discontinued section. Does anyone here have any info on the production status of SFX?

Digital Infrared?

ok, so i LOVE LOVE LOVE the infrared look and want to start shooting some. What I REALLY want to know is the best way to shoot (I'm sure there are many thoughts here), the best way to shoot DIGITAL infrared with a Canon 10D.

ie best filters, settings, tripod (y or n) etc.

Nightime Shots

I mean it's a nice function to have on the camera, but I havent seen anyone shooting any kind of artistic stuff.
